So when I finished Pandemic (my last book review) I wanted to read something else immediately. I have been unsuccessful in finding a free e-book version of Genome (second book to Pandemic), so I needed to find something else to satisfy my reading hunger. I decided to look and see what my local library had to offer. All the “popular books” had ridiculous waiting lists( I am on one that 18 weeks) so I needed to find something not popular that is available now. Que Artemis.
I absolutely LOVED the Martian by Andy Weir so I was definitely hoping for another story like that. And it was similar as in it was in space.🌒
I did like that the main character was a very independent woman and she didn’t have a sexual relationship or the need for one. There was talk of past sexual relationships but nothing that became the reason why she did anything.
This book takes place on the moon in a human colony called Artemis. There is no reference to what year it is so I can’t tell you when this takes place. In the book you have the main character who is a smuggler. She isn’t really on good terms with the one “Police Officer”. I don’t’ think they ever call him the police and that is why it is in quotation marks.
When one of her clients asks her to be apart of a bigger criminal undertaking things don’t go so well (dun dun duuuuuu).
Overall I liked this book ( I was able to finish it). However I didn’t find it as awesome as some of the other books I have read. Would I recommend it to someone? Yeah, it has its twists and turns that I like but there was just something I was missing. I can’t exactly put my finger on what it is though.
All in all a good book! I suggest People try and read it if you like Andy Weir’s books or Space adventures (did I just make up a new genre?).
I have already moved on to my next book, which is completely different from the books I have been recently reading. I am taking a break from the fiction world and moving on to a cultural critique book.
